About Swagger:
Geoff Yeaton and Skot Pollok met each other while playing in bands in
the thriving Orange County music scene. Geoff’s powerful, gritty yet
melodic voice blended well the Skot’s straight-ahead, early Clash style of
guitar playing, and Swagger was born.
Swagger’s earliest sound was influenced by the thriving Southern
California punk scene. Wanting to expand the sound to encompass more garage
rock overtones, Swagger pulled from some of their favorite bands, such
as The Clash and The Replacements, to create a sound that had the power
of punk but with a solid balance of melody and rock and roll groove.
The last twist to the sound was Geoff’s saxophone, rounding out the sound
and bringing the music to a new maturity level.
After a succession of members, the band landed on its final line up
which includes drummer Danny Thompson (formerly with Material Issue) and
Brian Doidge (formerly with The Aunt Bettys) on bass. The added song
writing abilities of the new members, joined together with Swagger's
already powerful and catchy writing, created the model for the new California
sound. In 2003 and early 2004, the band, in it's early stages, played
shows with international artists such as The Exies, Fiction Plane,
Beautiful Creatures, and many up and coming national acts. Swagger was also
honored to be a part of the MTV’s “You Hear It First” tour. 2004 also
saw the band receive a nod at the Orange County Music Awards for Best
Alternative Band.
In the new era of one hit wonders, American Idol, boy bands and music
for kids, Swagger fills the void with powerful, heart felt songs about
life, death, love and struggle. Swagger is what true rock and roll was
meant to be.
